New Metamagic Feats - Minimagics

Most of these Feats *decrease* the overall power of the spell being modified, but allow it to be cast at a lower level. No spell can be Minimized below 1st level. A Mage Armor spell, for instance, is already 1st level, and cannot be reduced below 1st level, although the casting could be enhanced by a standard Metamagic Feat, and then reduced with a Minimagic Feat, allowing a Mage Armor to be both Extended and Ritualized, requiring 5 full rounds to cast, but lasting 2 hours / caster level, and remaining a 1st level spell for preparation / spell slot usage.

 

Minimize Spell [Metamagic]

 

Causes all numeric variables in a spell to be reduced to their lowest possibility.  A minimized fireball will inflict only 1 hp / level (to a maximum of 10 hp at 10th level), save for half.  A minimized Bull Strength will raise strength by only 2 pts (1d4+1, minimized to 2 pts).

 

A spell memorized or modified by this Feat occupies a spell slot one lower than normal.  A Minimized Fireball is a second level spell, and a Minimized Bull's Strength a 1st level spell.

 

Medianize Spell [Metamagic]

 

Causes all numeric variables in a spell to be averaged out, and then rounded up.  A Medianized Fireball inflicts 3.5 pts of damage / die, to a maximum of 35 pts of damage (save for half) at 10th level.  (3.5 pts, round up to 4 at 1st, 3.5 pts + 3.5 pts or 7 pts at 2nd, etc)  A Medianized Bull's Strength results in 4 pts of Strength gain (1d4+1 equals 2.5 + 1, round up to 4).

 

A spell memorized or modified by this Feat occupies a spell slot of the same level.

 

Ritualize Spell [Metamagic]

 

Increases the casting time of a modified spell.  A 'standard action' casting is increased to 5 full round actions, while a full-round action casting is increased to 10 full rounds.  A 'free action' spell, such as Feather Fall, is increased to a single full-round action, and any spell with a longer casting time, in minutes or hours, is increased by a factor of 10.

 

A spell memorized or modified by this Feat occupies a spell slot one lower than normal.

 

Sacrificial Spell [Metamagic]

 

Adds a blood sacrifice component to a spells casting.  For every level of the spell, the caster must expend a single hit point of his own blood (which requires a Concentration check at the appropriate penalty, and requires a move-equivalent action added to a standard action casting time spell), or sacrifice another living creature of at least 1 HD / level of spell to be modified (requiring a full-round action, added to any normal casting time).

 

A spell memorized or modified by this feat occupies a spell slot one lower than normal.

 

Personal Spell [Metamagic]

 

Reduces the range of any spell with a range of  'Creature Touched' to affect the caster only.

 

A spell memorized or modified by this feat occupies a spell slot of the same level, but treats the spell-caster as +50% higher level for purposes of level-determined effects (such as duration).  So a 'self-only' Bull's Strength will last 1.5 hours / level, but still be a 2nd level spell.

 

Prolong Spell [Metamagic]

 

Causes a spell with a level-based increment of damage or effect to spread that effect out over multiple rounds, rather than all at once.  For example, a Prolonged Fireball cast by a 7th level Sorcerer would inflict 1d6 of Fire damage each round for 7 rounds within it's area of effect (with a seperate saving throw each round to halve damage taken), while a Ray of Enfeeblement inflicts 1d6-1 pts of Strength penalty on the first round, with additional level-based pts of Strength penalty being applied on succeeding rounds (all fading at the same time, duration is not extended in whole or in part).

Share Spell [Metamagic]

 

Allows the modified spell, which must have a Range = Personal and / or Target = You, to affect a Creature Touched.  Thus a Polymorph Self, Mirror Image or Fire Shield could be cast upon another recipient (who is allowed a Will save to resist, if unwilling).

 

A spell memorized or modified by this feat occupies a spell slot one level higher than normal.

 

Shorten Spell [Metamagic]

 

Allows the caster to reduce a modified spells duration. 1 minute / level reduces to 1 round / level, 10 minutes / level to 1 minute / level, 1 hour / level to 10 minutes / level. Otherwise, reduce duration by a factor of 10. Stacks with itself, so a Polymorph Self spell modified twice is a 2nd level spell, but reduces from 1 hour / level to 1 minute / level. Cannot reduce a spell below first level, or below a 1 round / level duration.

 

A spell memorized or modified by this Feat is treated as one level lower than normal.

 

Focus Cone [Metamagic]

 

Transforms a Cone spell to one that retains the same range, but only affects a 5' wide line.

 

A spell memorized or modified by this Feat is treated as one level lower than normal.

 

Lengthen Cone [Metamagic]

 

Transforms a Cone spell to one that only affects a 5' wide line, but increases to the next applicable range category. Thus a Cone of Cold modified by this Feat affects a 5' wide line out to Medium range.

 

The level does not change for a spell memorized or modified by this Feat.

 

Target Cone [Metamagic]

 

Transforms a Cone spell to one that retains the same range, but only affects a single target as a Ray attack that requires no roll to hit.

 

A spell memorized or modified by this Feat is treated as two levels lower than normal. If the spell is further limited to require a Ranged Touch Attack, it is treated as three levels lower than normal, but can still not be reduced below 1st level.
