Description

Reputed to be crafted by the whimsical and enigmatic wizard Yugman, this spell was found next to the standard endurance enchantment, which was referred to as ‘Dwarven Stamina.’  Predictably this spell was originally named ‘Elven Stamina’ in this work and was found on the following pages.  For the sake of somewhat sensitive elven egos, the name was changed to weakness

Spell Effect

A ghostly white ray shimmers wanly from the casters palm, seeming to blast away the health of any being outlined by its pale wasting light, revealing them instead as a frail withered shadow of their former vigor.  The caster must succeed at a ranged touch attack to strike, and if the target fails a Fortitude save to resist the effect, it suffers a –1d6 enhancement penalty to Constitution, with an additional –1 penalty / odd caster level (maximum additional penalty of –5 at 9th level).  The subjects Constitution score cannot drop below 1.  Note that the temporary Constitution loss will affect the subjects hit point score normally for the duration, but that the effects of this spell cannot reduce a targets to less than a total of 1 hit point / target level (or HD), or to negative hit points if the target is already damaged.  This effect can reduce a wounded target to zero hit points.
