Born stunted & yet strong like the bonsai tree, Torii Tamako chose to use her mastery of nature on a TV show simply to remind her people that the Earth and Wood still had power over the people of the sun. She is a serious activist and opposes pollution, improper hunting, fishing and most of all, deforestation. She single-handedly crusades against the destruction of the Southeast Asian rainforests & has actually killed an assassin sent from Malaysia to shut her up. Surviving an initial volley seemingly by luck (Matsuo Shima's work) she used impromptu magic to change the fleeing gun-man into a living tree & refuses to reverse the spell. Officials are hounding her, but her only response is to say that those who destroy the forest will find themselves replacing it...

In combat she wields a Bokken under the Staff enchantment to deadly effect. In other situations she uses her legendary healing skills in surprise visits to local hospitals, giving a more personal lesson in the Earth's power to protect her faithful.
