Mark Washington was a New Zealander who went
to America to became a pro wrestler of no great fame.  He left his unsuccessful career to study Muay
Thai in Malaysia and during training contracted a malarial strain that left
him wasted and dying for months, his powers then surfaced, drawn from their
latent stage by the ravages of the disease, but not before he was left with
but a shadow of his former strength, health and appearance.  He believes the disease a forge that re-made
him, taking away his body-pride and replacing it with a deep spiritual core,
which ironically gave him far more physical prowess than he ever had as a
wrestler.  Spotted by a Japanese businessman
on vacation, Mark was offered an unusual job.  A new Japanese show called the 7 Samurai appeared
soon thereafter and became a brief runaway success, eventually being aired
in many countries after the Japanese lost interest.  It is now in an anime and manga run, and Mark
is back from Japan doing voice-overs and conventions to hype the show in America.
While working for the show his Japanese bosses required him to learn
the tenets of Bushido and the skills of the Samurai, he actually went a bit
overboard in their view, but it only added to the show's authenticity in the
end.  As the son of half-Korean father
& a Vietnamese mother, Mark can pass for a Japanese man to the uneducated
eye despite his name and American upbringing.
