A German national of mixed German and Mexican parentage, ‘Maxei’ was visiting his mothers home country when he encountered a dull grey piece of hardened magma, leftover from an ancient eruption. This stone pulsed with power, and Max impulsively touched reached out and seized hold of it, as the ancient powers locked within it reached out and seized hold of him in turn, transforming his flesh into stone, and replacing his heart with fire.

He has since learned to control the transformation from Maxei to Vulkan (in English, he is called Smoking Mountain, after the volcano that transformed him), and with effort can even unleash the fires within him as powerful blasts of flame.

Maxei is tall and works out, dying his light brown hair black, and affecting an androgynous ‘goth’ look in human form, which is popular at the gay dance-clubs he tends to frequent in his off time. As Vulkan, he is still clad in leather, but tends to be no-nonsense, other than the near-constant stream of German and Spanish mixed profanity that accompanies him into battle, as he ‘talks smack’ with the best of them. While capable of delivering a brutal beating, he prefers to start with Intimidating displays, and only loses his temper if one of his team-mates is injured, as he is extremely protective of his friends.
