Able to create ‘metaphysickal’ armor, shield, sword and wings of some sort of quasi-substantial psychic force that appears as glowing semi-translucent gold and rose-hued force, the man who goes only by the name Daedalus appears as an armored angel of justice, with ancient Greek accoutrements.  His contructs cannot be damaged, but strike (or protect) with very real force (although he prefers to strike only to stun with his ‘weapons’).  Using his shield, he can block incoming attacks, even those directed at nearby targets, and his armor provides Force Field-level protection, and while his face, upper arms and upper legs appear unarmored, the ‘metaphysickal’ force protects those areas as fully as his seemingly heavily-armored chest.

While his true form is of an average height and weight Greek male of reasonably athletic build, and as Peter Katsoulas, he is completing graduate studies to teach history at the local university, as Daedalus, he transforms into someone who deserves the title ‘Greek god,’ a tall and handsome man in Grecian-style dress, with dark skin, cold blue eyes and flowing blonde hair.  (And, by modern standards, not terribly Greek-looking.)  Despite the change in appearance, his physical attributes do not change, and he is stronger than he looks as the wiry and ‘mild-mannered’ spectacle-wearing history student.

While his ‘armor’ and dress appears classical Greek, he is a Greek Orthodox in faith (if somewhat lax in his observances, of late, due to the new stressors in his life), and does not attribute any of his abilities to any sort of ‘mythological entities.’

Daedalus’ most persistent ‘nemesis’ is a young Greek woman who fell in love with him from media accounts and came to the conclusion that he was an angel, and the even more irrational conclusion that she was to bear his child and be the new Madonna…  Deliberately placing herself in dangerous situations, hoping for her angel to save her, she ended up in the hospital with a broken leg when she finally met him and proclaimed her undying love (and explained their romantic destiny).   Therapy and a restraining order probably weren’t the reactions she was looking for, but they didn’t help.  She grew hateful and desperate, deciding that if he wouldn’t see reason, she would force him to take her seriously.  Unknown forces answered her heart’s wish, and now she too can form ‘metaphysickal’ constructs, armor like his, bat-like wings, talons and a cruel barbed whip that moves like a living thing, dark red, wrapped in moving shadows and pulsing with spite like a turgid heartbeat, and is capable not only of lashing out, but also constricting a target, ‘flensing’ ability scores or incapacitating someone with crippling agony.  She calls herself ‘The Fury’ (as in ‘hell hath no…’).

The ‘Fury’ has publicly proclaimed that the only reason Daedalus spurned her is that he ‘prefers the company of young boys,’ and Daedalus is currently in the center of a tempest-in-a-teacup over this, embarrassed to have the support of organizations that he never gave a second’s notice to before, and also having had to fend off a lawsuit from someone who claimed to have ‘recovered memories’ of being molested by him.  A closed hearing proved to the judge’s satisfaction that the plaintiff not only had never actually met Daedalus, but couldn’t even pick him out of a line-up in his civilian identity.  As a result of this hearing, several individuals in the law-enforcement community know Daedalus’ ‘secret identify’ and the judge issued a gag order on that information, in case yet more ‘victims’ turn up with these sorts of claims.  Peter is not at all interested in ‘the boys,’ and is grateful that his secret identity remains secret, since, as Daedalus, he’s rapidly finding himself the recipient of unwelcome advances from men who don’t know that they are ‘barking up the wrong tree,’ and had to protest several attempts at holding him up as some sort of gay icon!  Additionally, his faith has suffered a hit because of the turn his local congregation took from holding him up as a figure of inspiration to a ‘pagan tempter.’  He no longer attends services, as he feels distinctly uncomfortable hearing his parish priest, whom he once regarded as a friend, denounce ‘that pervert, Daedalus’ from the pulpit.

The Fury hopes that alienating Daedalus in this manner, and ensuring that no other woman will ‘steal’ him from her, will only make him lonely enough to ‘accept his true destiny,’ as her consort...
