The party assembles to go after the kidnapping goblins, trailing them back to their lair with the assistance of a cowed survivor. They make it an hour into the woods before an encounter with a Hornsaw Unicorn leaves them in bad shape, forcing them to retreat to the town to wait for daybreak and the spellcasters to refresh their spells.

Just around noon the next day they set out again, encountering nothing more sinister than a Gallows Vine en route to the Spider-Eye Goblin lair. A lucky Spot check allows them to see a sentry while he is trying to slip away to raise the alarm, and a hand axe from Jack ends that notion. But the alarm is raised when the party begins to burn their way through the walls of webbing with torches, and waves of goblins attack, throwing poisoned darts (mostly ineffectually) before closing to hand to hand combat with their many claws. The third wave of goblins includes a Medium-sized pair trained as Rangers and multi-wielding Serpentsteel Daggers and Masterwork Short Swords, as well as a pair of Medium Monstrous Spiders, who manage to ensnare Jacks Dog and Erianna in thrown webbing as they approach.

The combat gets pretty nasty by this point, and the NPC and Spike (Erianna's dog) are dropped to negatives, while Jack goes through every ounce of healing from both Clerics, as usual. They are using cantrips to keep him up at the end, and as the last wave goes down, an Obscuring Mist begins to sprout from the center of the web-fort. Moving into the area, and being subject to an Entangle spell as well, Jack manages to bull his way to the queen herself, a Large sessile egg-laying creature with Druidic spellcasting ability. Having just watched every one of her followers killed, she parlays for her life.

She reveals that she had no use for the human children, but that others wanted them, strange dark snake men. The party decides to wrap Erianna up in webbing to appear as the third child, and the last party of goblins make the appointed rendezvous with these snake-men, delivering the children (and Erianna) while the rest of the party ambushes them. The queen agrees, under the condition that the snake-men have to die. An assortment of goblin treasure is found and taken, including two dagger sized serpent fangs filled with magical liquid, said to be the blood of Mormo. Other magical loot includes a suit of chain made from Animated hooked chains and 4 Serpentsteel Daggers that are left with the goblins. 4 Masterwork Short Swords and a suit of MW Hide is also taken, with Jack and Erianna each holding one MW Short Sword. The NPC uses his Flense Pack to skeletonize the 21 Small size and 2 Medium size Spider-Eye Goblin corpses.

Resting there for the day, again regaining spells before the 2 AM rendezvous, the party goes out to the site of the hand-off, and set up an ambush, unaware that the area is already under surveillance by the Asaathi Sorcerers bat familiar. The Asaathi think that they can handle the 'ambush' and prepare themselves with defensive spells (including a Bull's Strength on each of the Fighters). The party attacks, the Asaathi counter-attack, the goblins scatter to reach minimum safe distance and prepare to shower darts at either whoever appears to be losing, if it is a rout, or at the Asaathi, if it is a close thing.

The Asaathi Sorcerer is taken down before he gets a spell off, as he is targeted first. He is struck once before he can even ready his weapon and last defensive spell, a spell-triggered Mage Armor. One scale-clad bodyguard is wielding a Black Dragon Spear, that appears of twisted serpentine wood, covered in black shellac in a scaly pattern, and tipped with a black metal spearhead that resembles a dragons body and head, with the outspread wings forming the edged blades of the spear. It inflicts acidic damage when it strikes, and manages to bring Erianna down, and inflicts serious harm to Tyrus. The second Fighter uses a Serpentsteel Halfspear, but never actually manages to hit Jack with it, and falls before poisoning anyone. Jack grapples the last Asaathi Fighter and Tyrus manages to render it unconscious with a subduing attack, as they intend to question it to find out why it is seeking the human children.
