Called Gao-den (walking stick woman) as a youth because of
her height and slenderness, Ananda is a native of Dar Es Salaam in the province
of Tanzania and has always known exactly what she wanted and not been afraid of
going for it. She has always been
forthright and told everyone she has met exactly what she thought of them and
any other topic that crossed her mind.
Anyone who is put off by this brusque approach she just marks off her
list. She figures there are 10 billion
people out there and she doesn't have to be friends with all of them! It was only when she was at university that
she realized what exactly what her situation was in an introductory psychology
course. She is a borderline
sociopath. She thought about this long
and hard. After over a week of
self-analysis she decided that she didn't seem to be hurting anyone or herself
and that she couldn't imagine being anything or anyone other than who she was.
It was then that her personality softened and became less
openly ascerbic, not because her opinions of slackers and wanna-bes has
improved, but simply because she has no interest in being hustled off to
therapy and 'cured' of the simple crime of being who she is.
At first when Anandas husband was offered a job at Orgotek,
as a Psion no less, Ananda was unsure if she wanted to leave her crafts and
homeland behind. She finally decided to
take it with her and now works in Operations part-time, teaching other
operatives basic hand-to-hand techniques and making her insanely popular crafts
on the side. She never bothers to tell
her customers what she has crafted, allowing them to sell themselves on
whatever they see in her work. She
takes a condescending pleasure in how few of them really have any idea what
they are buying or what the items were meant for, but it doesn't really bother
her that almost none of her craft will see use, merely being hung on some
morons wall to collect dust.
Her sense of design and style is universal and she usually
picks clothes out for Kulu to heighten his perceived status (and thus, her
own). Her woodcarving and arrangements
are the talk of the locals and everyone seems to want her to make something for
them, often not just for themselves, but to send away as gifts to relatives or
friends.
All in all, her life follows precisely the plan she had set
out for herself, leaving her ambitionless loser parents in the dust and making
a better life for herself. Except for
