Talia was born and raised in the newly formed NOE with all the rights and priviledges that this entailed.  But her father passed away in a skimmer accident and her mother chose to return to the support of her family in Persia rather than try to raise her children on her own.  In Persia, women have about as many rights as milk-goats and it was a harsh blow for Talia to go from an honor student in a teeming public school and guaranteed college to come to a place where most women were home educated in cooking, sewing, cleaning and feeding livestock and even finishing high school was purely optional.  It was during an argument on her attendance of school that one of her uncles reminded her of her 'place' by beating and then sexually abusing her.  One of her nieces later informed her that this was not uncommon, since no court of law would take a girls word over a mans!  So she became the model of demeanor until she had finished what education she could (often with forged permission slips or pilfered access codes).  Her marks were high enough to warrant a scholarship from an NOE university.  (The NOE being especially generous to Persian girls, knowing that their talents were wasted at home.)  She ran away promptly with the help of a 'womans underground' to attend the NOE university, and thanks to her jezebel trouble-maker reputation, her family mostly breathed a sigh of relief.

In college Talia studied journalism, wanting to expose her homeland as she saw it, a den of vice and hypocrisy.  Her Latency testing was part of an agreement to qualify for a grant from the ISRAn school and she was quite needy, working her way through school with no assistance from home. It was two more years before she returned to the Bahists to discuss the idea, having graduated and interned at a local music venue on the net in the interim.  She had come to the conclusion that in the last 5 years she had forgotten all of the women trapped in Persia, including her sister and nieces and that it was time that she began to work on their behalf and not just run away to make a better life for herself alone.

She accepted ISRAs offer, promising nothing and becoming a Clear only for the power that she could gain to expose the rotten heart beating within the breast of Persia.

Talia has returned to Persia, doing an excellent job of feigning contrition and managed to get herself onto a local broadcast of news and weather, more by dint of persuasiveness and the novelty of a woman in this role than by any display of talent or prior experience.  For a woman in Persia, she is prominent and wealthy indeed, and she even faked an ill-fated marriage and subsequent widowment in college in the NOE so that her male relatives wouldn't marry her off!  But Talia doesn't just tell news, she uses her position to work her way into social situations to be near men of prominence and using her wiles to lure them into revealing enough about passcodes and security arrangements, (leaving it up to their imaginations why a lovely lady would want to be able to come secretly to their bedchambers), whereupon she uses her stealth and subterfuge abilities to get close enough to use her self-defense training learned in college (having vowed never to be helpless again) to kill them, arranging their bodies in such a way as to create scandal.  Her news reports, by comparison, are the height of propriety, she makes no pretense of being able to sneak messages out by thismedium, feeling that the cover must remain all-but inviolate for now and the influential Talia Serap Verda never be associated with these atrocious 'Sandal Killings.'  (So called because a comfortable and Islam-forbidden womans sandal is always found with the victim.)
